Musician Profile: Jez Franks

Guitarist Jez Franks completes the line-up of Ingrid Jensen’s quartet for the Orpheus Project tour in May/June 2016.
Based in London, Jez has been a member of a number of groups as a sideman – F-IRE collective member Tom Arthur’s Centipede, Asaf Sirkis’ Inner Noise, Loz Speyer’s Timezone and has worked with musicians like Gerard Presencer, Henry Lowther and Rick Astley.
As a leader, Jez has been a prominent voice in the group Compassionate Dictatorship which he co-led with tenor saxophonist Tori Freestone and joined by Jasper Hoiby and James Maddren. The group have released three albums, Entertaining Tyrants being the latest (Read a review of Entertaining Tyrants here). At the moment, Jez is one sixth of the group Solstice, a group made up of some of the leading lights from the East London music scene which also features Tori Freestone, Brigitte Beraha, George Hart, Dave Manington and John Turville.

Jez is also a member of the E17 Jazz collective which celebrates and supports the vibrant scene in East London.
Jez will join Ingrid, Andy and Tim as they tour the UK between May 26th and June 5th 2016. For one gig only, the quartet will be augmented to include pianist Jamil Sheriff (May 28th, HEART in Leeds).
