About The Orpheus Project

2 February 2016

The intention of the Orpheus Project is to create a strong, stable infrastructure for touring live jazz in the North of England which will benefit musicians, promoters and audiences.

In its first touring period (2015/16)The Orpheus Project will run three tours, each featuring an international guest artist in collaboration with UK musicians. These ensembles will work together to develop new work before touring venues within NORVOL. We will also partner with venues and organisations outside of the region to secure additional performances and educational activities.

By sharing resources and experience, we can be a part of real cultural change and support the vibrant jazz scene in the North. The scheme provides career development and networking for musicians, supports promoters to programme adventurously and brings world class live jazz to audiences across the region.

The Orpheus Project is made possible through support from Arts Council England.
